His condition worsened in recent months, which is why he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Daisy Morrison.

But he tragically lost his battle with a rare bone and soft tissue disease just weeks after proposing to the love of his life in hospital.

Devastated Daisy announced Ben’s death in a brave and emotional post on Instagram, writing: “Hardest parting.

“Yesterday I lost my whole life, my fiancé, my soul mate, my person, my whole world. I always hoped and prayed that this day would never, ever come.

“Real heartbreak is real, my heart hurts physically and I have never felt pain like this.

“My mom and dad couldn’t have chosen a better soulmate for me, they adored you, they think of you as a son, and they’re hurting right now.

“They say you follow someone like your father and God, you were like dad, two peas in a pod, best friends, I couldn’t have wished for a stronger bromance.

“You fought until the very end my dear, I know you did absolutely everything you could to stay and despite so much suffering you continued, for which I will be forever grateful, you never gave up, God simply had his plans.

“One thing I can say for sure is that we made the most of every second.

“You and I said we’d rather meet our soulmate and have less time than live our whole lives without each other.

“You were the reason I smiled every day, my reason to wake up, you were the first person I turned to with a problem.

“The person I felt safe next to every night, the person who made the whole room laugh, you were my reason for it all, you gave me purpose.

“The only person I want to talk to right now is you and I can’t do what’s breaking me down.

“You told me so many times to be brave for you and to never give up and I promise to try.

“I already miss you so much and every second of every day my dear I will bow, cuddle, kiss, laugh, send messages and everything.

“My heart will never, ever heal from this hole you left.

“Letting you go will always be the hardest thing I’ll ever have to do.
