Beyoncé Fans Fail Viral ‘Mute’ Challenge at Brazil Premiere Event for ‘Renaissance’ Concert Film

Beyoncé came to Brazil — and the BeyHive couldn’t contain their “energy.”

On Thursday, Queen Bey, 42, stepped out for a surprise premiere in the honor Renaissance: The Beyoncé Movie in cinemas in Brazil. The pop superstar celebrated the release at a fan event and screening called “Club Renaissance,” where she addressed fans from the stage of a convention center in Salvador, Bahia — and even introduced one of her tour traditions.

Fans captured footage of the Grammy winner – who was a vision in a shimmering silver floor-length gown – attempting a silent challenge with her Brazilian fans. But in the clips, when she sang the lines “Look around, everybody on mute” from her song “Energy,” the crowd was just too excited and didn’t go quiet — as stadiums (mostly) did at renaissance World tour.

According to fan-recorded videos, the “Break My Soul” artist sang the line once and the crowd continued to scream, prompting her to repeat it. When their second chance failed and continued to cheer, the hitmaker couldn’t hold back his laughter.

Audience members also filmed Beyoncé on stage explaining why it was important to her to host the premiere of her new film in the South American country.

“I came because I love you so much,” the Destiny’s Child alum said. “It was very important for me to be here – right here in Bahia. Renaissance is about freedom. It’s about beauty, joy, resilience, everything you do. I am so honored to be here and so happy to see your beautiful faces. I love you very much.”

After the event, Beyoncé shared photos from the evening on Instagram. On the carousel, she shared a sweet selfie holding up a peace sign, several photos of her posing on the carpet, including two when she’s waving the Brazilian flag, and a few candids on the stage of Club Renaissance, smiling and holding the Bahia flag. The last photo showed her relaxing on the plane – still in her dress, with a long fabric and hood hanging next to her – smiling and looking content for the night.

The Lemonade artist celebrated the film — which documents her acclaimed, record-breaking 2023 world tour and her behind-the-scenes moments — with two other premiere events.

Beyoncé made her first appearance on Nov. 25 at the Los Angeles premiere, which featured a star-studded guest list that included Gabrielle Union, Janelle Monáe, Kelly Rowland, Lizzo, Lori Harvey and Winnie Harlow.

A few days later, she attended the world premiere in London. Taylor Swift was among those in attendance, showing her support for a fellow pop icon after Bey attended the premiere of Swift’s concert film in October.
