Charlie Sheen’s Neighbor Arrested on Charges of Attempted Strangulation After Alleged Break-In

Charlie Sheen’s alleged attacker has reportedly been arrested.

The Two and a half Men Alumina’s neighbor was taken to the police on Wednesday. In a statement shared with PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that deputies responded to a “battery/disturbance call” in Malibu.

“After contacting the parties involved, deputies identified Charlie Sheen as the victim of the assault,” the statement continued, noting that the suspect was “arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, force likely to cause serious bodily injury” and “residential burglary.”

TMZ, which first broke the news, said the 47-year-old woman allegedly knocked on Sheen’s door and after he answered, tried to strangle him. After the strangulation attempt, she allegedly retreated to her home.

Sheen (58) reportedly did not need medical attention.

The outlet reported that Sheen told authorities he’s had problems with the woman before, most recently claiming she sprayed his vehicle with a “sticky” liquid and threw trash at his house. However, Sheen also confirmed that they talked about things – although his communication with the neighbor was before the alleged strangulation.

PEOPLE has reached out to Sheen’s reps for comment.

Earlier this month, Sheen told PEOPLE exclusively that he has been sober for nearly six years. “I have a very consistent lifestyle now,” he said. “It’s all about being a single dad and raising my 14-year-old twins, Max and Bob.”

The real reason he stopped drinking emerged after he broke a promise to take one of his daughters with ex-wife Denise Richards on a date. “One morning I forgot that my daughter had a meeting that I had promised to take her to, and I had already had a few drinks that day,” he said.

Sheen had a friend drive instead. “We got her ready in time, but it broke my heart because she was in the back seat and I could tell she was thinking, ‘Why isn’t Dad driving?’ So I came home and sat with it the rest of the day,” he said. “And the next morning I just quit.”
