Beyoncé may have officially announced her new country era at the 2024 Super Bowl, but it seems she actually subtly said, “Hello,” last week.
The pop icon (42) presented her new album Renaissance: Act II during a commercial that aired during Super Bowl LVIII and dropped two surprise songs: the country-inspired songs “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” on Sunday. The announcement comes exactly one week after her outfit choice at the 2024 Grammys had some people wondering if her next album would make fans say yum.
Last Sunday at the 66th Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the hitmaker stepped out to attend the awards ceremony where her husband JAY-Z received the Dr. Global Influence Award. Dre — and she sported a western-influenced main-toe look. The Grammy winner rocked a Louis Vuitton studded leather suit designed by Pharrell, Wolford’s Nude 8 leggings, Cartier jewelry and a Stetson cowboy hat.

While the superstar wears a cowboy hat on the cover of his disco- and house-inspired hit album 2022. renaissancemany fans speculated that her dedication to cowboy music at the Grammys hinted that she would release more country-inflected music in the future.
The BeyHive’s theory was confirmed on Sunday when she announced she was dropping new music and immediately shared a teaser on social media, after her Verizon Super Bowl spot aired live during the game. The announcement of the singer “Slomi mi dušu” was published. Act II her album renaissance was set for release on March 29 and offered a taste of her upcoming country era.
Shortly after announcing the album, Beyoncé treated fans to new music with the singles “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” further illustrating her new country sound. Both songs contain rustic, roots-heavy rhythms.

She relies on the dizzying aesthetic on the individual artwork for each song: “Texas Hold ‘Em” features the star wearing metal armor, complete with a black cowboy hat, large earrings and a black belt complete with a strategically placed heart-shaped pendant -, and “16 Carriages” features her in a black-and-white shot with black cowboy hair and hair styled in waves.

The new songs aren’t the “Break My Soul” singer’s first foray into the genre: She’s known as a rodeo from Houston, Texas, and released “Daddy Lessons” on her acclaimed 2016 album. Lemonade.
