Beyoncé’s Rep Defends Superstar After Erykah Badu Questions Her New Album Cover and Asks JAY-Z to ‘Say Somethin’

at Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter is making waves ahead of its release date.

After singer Erykah Badu criticized the upcoming album of the 42-year-old singer Cowboy Carter cover, the longtime publicist of 32-time Grammy winner Yvette Schure came to the musician’s defense.

On Wednesday, Schure shared an Instagram Reel that featured a montage of Beyoncé rocking braided hairstyles throughout her career. “She kills. She kills. Now. Then. Always. #criticswithoutcredentials,” Schure captioned the post.

The aforementioned post follows Badu’s social media uploads on Wednesday questioning him renaissance singer’s album cover for Act Two: Cowboy Carter. In a recent album cover released on Wednesday, Beyoncé is naked with only a belt hanging across her chest and hips. On the belt is the inscription “Act II Beyincé” on a white piece of cloth with blue and red edges.

Her hair is braided, with red and white beads at the ends of the bangs. The mother-of-three’s pose was reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty’s stance as she held a lit marijuana cigarette.

Badu, 53, re-shared Beyoncé’s album cover on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday afternoon, writing: “Hmmm.” This post seemingly alluded to Badu’s affinity for a braided hairstyle with beaded bangs.

After Badu shared the story, she spoke X (formerly known as Twitter) to enlist the help of Beyoncé’s husband, JAY-Z.

“To Jay Z. Say something Jay. You let this woman and these bees do this to me?? 😆”, she wrote in the post.

Wednesday’s album cover follows the singer’s first look at the upcoming album’s cover, which she shared on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Beyoncé shared a “10-day countdown to the release” of her project, which was inspired “years ago.”

The Lemonade the singer said she was inspired after an experience she had “where [she] I didn’t feel welcome.”

“However, because of that experience, I delved deeper into the history of country music and studied our rich music archive,” she wrote. “The criticism I faced when I first entered the genre forced me to push the limits that were placed on me.”
