Beyond Paradise has begun filming for a second season and the upcoming Christmas special – and we can’t wait to see what awaits Inspector Humphrey Goodman this time around!
The popular spinoff Death in Paradise has been given the green light for a second season following a positive response from viewers and critics, with Kris Marshall once again playing the detective. The Sanditon The star will also star Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd, Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd, and Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins.
So what can we expect from the upcoming episodes? While the new season promises to include the same “fun escape from reality” as previous episodes, the synopsis reads: “New detective Inspector Shipton Abbott will be tasked with solving a crime shock on a steam train, an arson predicted by a vehicle, and the puzzling disappearance of local fishing lore”.

Talking about the upcoming season, Kris said, “I’m super excited to start filming the second series of Beyond Paradise. ‘Shipton Abbott’ is a great location to call home for a while and it’s been fun. to join my police team on a host of other strange and wonderful cases and to see what awaits Humphrey and Martha in the next chapter of their lives.”
Sally added: “It’s been a pleasure to be part of the first series of Beyond Paradise and I’m so excited to be back in what has been like a second home in Shipton Abbott. I can’t wait for audiences to see what we see. I have it planned – the second series is going to be great!”

Executive producer Tim Key also said of the upcoming second season: “We’re amazed at how quickly audiences have memorized Beyond Paradise and are ready to return for more.

Ralf Little has previously talked about Beyond Paradise, revealing that he’d love to do a crossover episode. “I quite liked the fact that, when there was Beyond Paradise, there was a joke between us that was like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that there was death in the Paradise Cinematic Universe,” he said.

He added: “So who knows? Maybe [there will be] than. Maybe there will be a death in the United States or a death in the Maldives which would be quite convenient.”
