Bhasha Sumbli is an Indian actor, theater director and theater artist. In 2022, she played the role of Sharda Pandit in the Hindi film Kashmir Files.

Bhasha Sumbli was born in Sumbal, Jammu and Kashmir, and grew up in a Kashmiri Pandit migrant camp in Delhi. In an interview, she shared her memories of life in the camp. she says,
I was a child when my parents were forced to leave Kashmir like the rest of the community. We stayed in a camp in Delhi. Life there is full of suffering. There was a constant fight for bread and blankets. I remember one time my elderly grandfather nearly wrestled a young man over a blanket. Too bad…this sadness is always with us. “
She studied Koodiyattam (an ancient Indian classical performance form) and dance at the National School of Drama, New Delhi.

She started her career as a theater artist and has performed in various theater productions, including those directed by renowned Kashmiri folk theater artist Moti Lal Khemu.
At the age of 15, she wrote her first play. She subsequently wrote many Hindi plays, some of which were published in national journals. She has also served as an acting mentor for various reality television shows such as “India’s Best Dramebaaz 2” (2015) and “Sabse Bada Kalakar” (2017).
Basha organizes various acting workshops for acting students.
She appeared in one season of the Doordarshan TV series “Ek Tha Rusty”. In 2019, she starred in the Hindi television series Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television. She made her Bollywood debut in the Hindi film Chapaak (2020), in which she played a cameo. She also serves as a mentor in IPL’s grand talk show “Super Funday” (2021), which airs on Star network. In 2022, she appeared in the Hindi film Kashmir Files, playing the role of Sharda Pandit.

- During her tenure at NDA, her research articles on ancient and popular theater forms were published in Rang Prasang, the NDA magazine.
- Basha said in an interview about studying at NSD:
We have little to aspire to because our faculty is made up of experienced artists who can sense what we need, most of the time without us realizing it. We have more than what we asked for and I can safely say that we have the best campus and the best atmosphere for any institution in Delhi and beyond. “

- In an interview, she shared an incident that happened while filming the 2022 Hindi film Kashmir Files. she says,
People in the country often talk about this brutal massacre. My health got really bad while filming the scene where I was being cut with a saw. I can’t see the difference between scrolls and real life. My blood pressure dropped and I started having trouble breathing. After finishing the scene, I sat in a corner. Meanwhile, another scene is being filmed where people are being shot while standing together. Mr. Vivek threw Kashmiri Pandits there. When they were getting shot by bullets, I started yelling there and started saying don’t kill my people. I forgot the show was happening. The production team came to me to comfort me. Even Mr. Vivek came. I was not breathing and I was having a panic attack. I don’t understand how I can save my life. Then I was sent back to the hotel. I stayed in the hotel room for three days and didn’t talk to anyone. But afterwards I felt very embarrassed, how could I be so broken even though I was an acting coach. I couldn’t even make eye contact with the crew. “
