Big Sean Explains Why He and Jhené Aiko Aren't Married After 8 Years: 'There's a Lot of Work That Needs to Be Done'

Big Sean doesn’t think it’s the right time to marry Jhené Aiko, despite the couple’s years of history.

On Friday, August 2, Power 105.1 FM host Charlamange Tha God released a new episode of the iHeartRadio Podcast Out of context with rapper “Bounce Back”, 36.

During the in-depth interview, Charlamange, 46, spoke with Sean about a variety of topics — including fatherhood, Kendrick Lamar privately apologizing for the leaked diss track “Element” and more.

The radio host also asked the Detroit MC, born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, why he and Aiko, who is also 36, haven’t tied the knot yet — or if they’ve already done “one of those secret industry weddings.”

Sean replied, laughing, “No, no, there was no secret marriage in the industry.”

“It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But to be honest with you, just like all people who have dealt with love, we had our ups and downs, you know what I’m saying? And I think he’s still finding the right navigation through it all.”

“For me, marriage symbolizes the best relationship,” he continued.

The “My Last” artist added that the idea of ​​marriage is “almost a fear-based mindset,” noting that divorce rates are very high. However, he did not say that he would never consider marriage.

“I’d like to, and I don’t like to bring up our personal affairs like that, but there’s a lot of work to be done,” Sean said.

On the other hand, Charlamange offered a little advice: “So take it from someone who’s been with his wife for twenty-six years, right? There will always be ups and downs, period. The work will never stop.”
