Bihar Board Exam 2024: The Bihar School Examination Board has made it mandatory for the students of class 9 to 12 to have at least 75% attendance to be eligible to appear for the exams. The announcement came after Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar ordered all state universities to bar students from appearing for exams if they have less than 75% attendance.

Mandatory minimum attendance of 75%.

The Bihar Board of Education has issued an order addressing all principals, teachers, students and parents of secondary and higher secondary schools in the state regarding compulsory attendance. The notification issued states that students studying in classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 in recognized educational institutions at the secondary and higher secondary level will have to have at least 75% attendance. The notification further states that only those students with the required attendance will be able to take the exams conducted by the committee and the annual exams for the 9th and 11th grades.

Former students were allowed to relax the criteria in cases of up to 60% attendance which has now been abolished. Students who do not have the minimum prescribed attendance will not be able to take the exams under any circumstances, the issued order points out.

Chief Secretary Robert L Chongathu said the authorities noticed that colleges were allowing students with less than 75% attendance to appear for university examinations. The chancellor is not in favor of this practice and has issued an order to ensure that 75% attendance is mandatory before students are allowed to sit for university exams.
