A WORLD-renowned chef died “peacefully” on Christmas Day at the age of just 54.

Bill Granger’s heartbroken family announced his death today, saying he died in hospital with them at his bedside.

The father of three was remembered as a “devoted husband and father”.

Loved ones wrote on Instagram: “He will be sorely missed by all, and his loss will be felt most by his adoring family, who are grateful for all the love and support he gave.

“It is with great sadness that Bill Granger’s family announces that he passed away on December 25 at the age of 54.

“A devoted husband and father, Bill died peacefully in hospital with his wife Natalie Elliott and three daughters, Edie, Inès and Bunny, at his bedside in their adopted home in London.”

The post added: “He will be greatly missed by all and his loss is felt most deeply by his adoring family, who are grateful for all the love and support they have shown her.”

Bill was born in Sydney, Australia and has been in the food business for 30 years.

He was self-taught and started opening restaurants all over the world.

Dad then wrote 14 cookbooks and made five TV series.

In January of this year, he received a medal of the Order of Australia.

Tributes poured in for Bill this afternoon.

Fellow chef Nigella Lawson wrote: “I am heartbroken to hear this. So cruel. Deepest love to N, E, I and B.”

Jamie Oliver, 47, said he was “devastated” by the news of Granger’s death.

The chef described Bill as a “wonderful man” who prepares good food.

He wrote: “This is devastating news, so sad to hear, what a guy he was…a lovely man, a kind peaceful soul.

“I admired everything he represented in food. I remember when I first met him many moons ago, he couldn’t have been nicer and his food so good.

“Sending so much love to all my family. Rest in peace Bill, we will miss you so much jox xx.”

Australian actor and singer Jason Donovan also paid tribute, saying: “Devastating. A wonderful father and husband. A wonderful man. A ray of Australian sunshine.”
