Firefighters were seen spraying water on the roof even two hours after the alarm was first raised at 16.09.

By then, flames could still be seen rising as smoke billowed out.

Footage posted online shows one pedestrian running to avoid flying debris from broken windows.

The entire first floor and the conversion of the attic of the property were engulfed in flames at height.

A total of eight fire trucks and about 60 firefighters intervened to extinguish the fire, which was brought under control by 6:23 p.m.

Images from the scene show the bus stuck in the street as firefighters tackle the blaze.

A 32-metre ladder was used to tackle the fire from above, while a drone was set up to give firefighters an aerial view of the house.

The London Ambulance Service took two people to hospital.

Fire crews will remain on the ground throughout the evening, and the cause of the explosion is under investigation.

Residents are still being told to avoid the area while the road is closed while the incident is investigated.
