Bill Pearl, the famous bodybuilder, passed away on September 14 at the age of 91. Judy, his wife, announced the news on her official social media account. His last post included news of his death along with his bio and the caption began:

His wife did not disclose the reason of her death when paying tribute to Pearl. However, she explained that Parkinson’s disease won him over. In 2016, he was diagnosed with the disease. Moreover, in April 2022, this bodybuilder was involved in a lawn mowing accident in which a lawn mower fell on him. He also announced the accident on his Facebook page. After this event, he suffered a compression fracture in his T-10 vertebra, as well as several other problems. However, a few days later, a broken neck was discovered.

Bill Pearl, born October 31, 1930, joined the United States Navy and was assigned to Naval Air Station San Diego. He works out at Leo Stern’s gym, where he meets Pearl’s mentor, Leo Stern, who is also a bodybuilder. Pearl entered two local competitions in 1952 and four in 1953, winning both. He even crowned Mr. America and Mr. Universe. From 1956 to 1971, he participated in 11 different competitions, winning 9 of them. Bill became famous after beating bodybuilders like Frank Zane, Reg Park, Dave Draper and Sergio Oliva. In some countries, he has done pose and force demonstrations. In his stunt routine, he would explode hot water bottles, bend tents, break shackles, and tear off license plates.
He ran two gyms in California and went vegan at age 39. He often eats dairy products and eggs, and he talks about the benefits of this in his book Getting Started Stronger: Weight Training for Sports. Pearl’s first book is Getting Stronger: Weight Training for Men and Women and his second book is Keys to the Inner Universe. This was followed by his Q&A articles on MuscleMag International and Muscle Builder, two bodybuilding publications.
In 2003, he and co-author Kim Shott published their autobiography, Beyond the Universe: The Bill Pearl Story. During the 1980s, he was a mentor and teacher to many professionals, and received the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
