Billie Eilish Calls Ex Jesse Rutherford 'One of My Favorite People,' Jokes She's 'Never Dating Again'

All is well between Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford.

According to an unpublished extract from it Rolling stone cover story that appeared on May 17 — the same day her third studio album was released Hit me hard and soft — The 22-year-old singer-songwriter “Ručka” is still on friendly terms with her former rocker boyfriend.

“That’s my guy, truly one of my favorite people in the world,” Rutherford, 32, told the publication.

Eilish seemingly confirmed that she is currently single, but also expressed that she has no interest in getting back into a relationship anytime soon.

“I plan on never dating again,” the nine-time Grammy winner joked before clarifying her statement. “That is obviously not true. But no, I’m not seeing anyone seriously until I find someone who really suits me, and that’s not interesting to me right now.”

Eilish’s new comments come exactly one year after her rep confirmed to PEOPLE her split from Rutherford. The couple, who were last seen together at Coachella in April 2023, dated for less than a year before they called it quits.

“We can confirm that Billie and Jesse have amicably parted ways and remain good friends,” the singer’s rep said in a statement. “All cheating rumors are false. They are both currently single.”

Eilish repeated similar comments on her Instagram stories that August when a fan asked her where she stood with Rutherford. “Just very, very good friends,” she wrote of The Neighborhood frontman, adding: “My friend forever.”

The “Ocean Eyes” singer and the musician were romantically linked on October 13, 2022, when they were spotted relaxing at the vegan restaurant Crossroads Kitchen in West Hollywood. A few days later, they were seen locking lips outside the Lal Mirch Indian restaurant in Studio City. Then, on November 1, 2022, Eilish made their romance official on Instagram by posting a series of photos of their couples’ Halloween costumes with the caption, “Life is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood,” with a clown emoticon.

Before the break, Eilish and Rutherford attended several industry events together, including the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty and the 2022 LACMA Art + Film Gala, where they made their first public appearance.

She added: “I’ve been in love with girls all my life, but I just didn’t get it – until last year I realized I wanted my face in my vagina.”
