Daytime Emmy Award winner Billy Miller, best known for his role in soap operas Young and restless and General Hospital, died. He would have turned 44 on Sunday.
Miller died Friday in Austin, Texas, according to a statement from his manager obtained by PEOPLE. When he died, he was “struggling with manic depression,” his manager said. No specific cause of death was given.
The actor was known for his roles in several soap operas, starting with All My Children In 2007, he continued to act in Young and restless from 2008 to 2014, and earned three Daytime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Billy Abbott — Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2010 and 2013 and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2014.
He later joined ABC General Hospital as Jake Doe before taking over the role of Steve Burton’s Jason Morgan from 2016 to 2017. With Burton’s return to the series, Miller played Morgan’s twin, Drew Cain for two seasons before leaving the soap in 2019.
Miller’s credit also includes Suits and AppleTV+ Truth be told.

Several of the actor’s former co-stars took to X on Sunday to share their heartbreak over his death.
General Hospitalis Risa Dorken He said she was “heartbroken” by the news. “My heart is with him, and everyone who loves him – he is loved by many. ❤️ Warm, kind, incredibly talented.. a big hug for the daily family. Rest in peace and happy heavenly birthday Billy.”
Young and restless‘ Eileen Davidson shared a memory of a photo with Miller from the 2014 Emmys when they both won awards. “I am so sad to hear that Billy Miller has passed away,” she wrote in publish. “His infectious charm and warmth left an indelible impression on all of us who were lucky enough to have him in our lives. I will miss that mischievous smile. I love you Billy.”
Jason Thompson, who starred in General Hospital with Miller, and later took over the actor’s former role as Billy Abbott in the Young and restlesshe said he was “sad to hear” of his “friend’s” death.
“He was witty, had a good laugh and was very talented,” Thompson wrote twitter. “Love and light to his family and friends.”

Kin Shriner of General Hospital said he was “very sorry to hear” about Miller’s death. “So enjoyed his time at @GeneralHospital,” Shriner said twitter He said. “He was a really good guy, funny and kind to everyone !RIP Billy.”
Series executive producer Frank Valentini also had his say condolences on the news. “I was devastated to hear the news of the passing of the incredibly talented Billy Miller. On behalf of the entire @GeneralHospital family, our hearts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
