Bindi told PEOPLE for their August cover story that she and husband Powell, 26, consider their daughter a “little miracle” because of her battle with endometriosis.

“There was every chance that we wouldn’t be able to have a little one, so we’re happy to have our beautiful little girl,” she said as she reflected on her journey with endometriosis.

After spending years dealing with pain, fatigue and nausea and several unsuccessful attempts to get a diagnosis, she learned via laparoscopy that she had a reproductive condition in which uterine tissue grows outside the uterus, causing cramping and chronic pain.

“I was so scared they wouldn’t find anything because we ran out of everything else to test,” she recalled. “After years of being told by doctors and other people that there is nothing, you really start to believe it. You end up in this weird space of self-doubt, fear, and insecurity. That’s hard to overcome.”

“I feel like I have a second chance at life,” she added. “I feel brand new.”
