Bindi Irwin Reflects on the Past Year in Emotional Post: ‘2023 Changed the Trajectory of My Entire Life’

Bindi Irwin reflects on how 2023 is coming to an end.

In an Instagram post on Friday, the 25-year-old shared a video highlighting her favorite moments of the year with her loved ones, including her husband Chandler Powell and their 2-year-old daughter Grace Warrior.

Along with snaps of herself on various adventures with Powell, 27, and Grace — including snaps from a recent family trip to Disney World — Bindi was also seen with her mother Terri Irwin and brother Robert Irwin at the annual Steve Irwin Gala in November, which Grace attended for the first time this year.

Another shot also showed Bindi in a hospital gown.

“2023 changed the trajectory of my entire life. I will forever live in awe and gratitude for this year of affirmation,” Bindi captioned the post, which was set to OneRepublic’s “I Lived.”

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the people I love very much who gave me the opportunity to start a new beginning. You mean everything to me,” the description concludes.

While Bindi doesn’t explicitly mention her endometriosis diagnosis in the title, her mother does in a candid comment on the post.

“So much has changed in 2023. You beat endometriosis, tackled many conservation projects and best of all Grace is growing into such a brilliant and beautiful little girl,” wrote Terri, 59. “I love you all so much and I’m incredibly excited for the adventures to come in 2024! ❤️.”

Powell also wrote about his wife’s health in a comment, saying, “What a monumental year. I’m so excited for more endometriosis-free adventures to come. It’s amazing to watch you blossom more and more. Grace and I love you so much.”

Irwin spoke with PEOPLE in August about her diagnosis. In that time, God! It’s the Irwins star said she underwent countless tests before doctors figured out why she was experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, pain and nausea.

“It’s so hard because you feel like it’s inevitable,” she said. “You don’t know what’s wrong with you, and then when people say ‘It’s all in your head’ or ‘you’re on hormones’ or ‘just have a cup of tea, lie down’, you end up feeling so desperately alone because there are no answers.”

One day in August, while climbing a “little hill” with Grace, Bindi said she felt such pain that she fell to the ground in the fetal position. A friend encouraged her to have a laparoscopy — a minimally invasive method of diagnosing and treating intra-abdominal diseases.
