Bob Barker's Cause of Death Revealed After 'The Price Is Right' Host Dies at 99

The TV personality’s death was announced on August 26, just four months before his 100th birthday

Bob Barker’s cause of death has been revealed.

Hosted by The The price is right, WHO died late last month at the age of 99 at his home in the Hollywood Hills of Alzheimer’s disease, according to his death certificate obtained by PEOPLE.

The document said Barker had been living with the disease for “years”, although the exact time of diagnosis was not given.

Hypertension (high blood pressure), hypothyroidism and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) were also listed as “other significant conditions” that contributed to Barker’s death, according to the affidavit.

Barker has dealt with a number of health issues in recent years. In January 2019, paramedics were called to Barker’s Hollywood Hills home after he collapsed, thinking he was not hospitalized.

In October 2018, Barker’s manager confirmed to PEOPLE that EMS and firefighters had come to Barker’s Hollywood Hills home in response to a “non-emergency back issue.”

Barker’s publicist Roger Neal confirmed the news of the 15 Daytime Emmy winner’s death on August 26. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the world’s greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker,” Neal said in a statement.

The host’s girlfriend, Nancy Burnet, also shared a few words about Barker at the time.

“I am so proud of the pioneering work that Barker and I have done to expose animal cruelty in the entertainment industry, including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally,” said Burnet. “We have been great friends over these 40 years. We will miss him.”

CBS, where Barker was the host The price is right for 35 years, they honored him on Thursday.

Barker started hosting The price is right In 1972, the game show became the longest-running game show in US history and made Barker the longest-serving game show host.

“I am often asked what I loved most about my age Priceand the first thing that comes to mind is … money, of course!” Barker told PEOPLE in 2021. “All kidding aside, there was a lot to love. I have had the pleasure of working with a dedicated and talented cast and crew for 35 great years.”
