Bob Saget’s Widow Kelly Rizzo on How Her Husband and Full House Cast Comforted Her on Terrifying Flight

Bob Saget a fuller house the cast was truly like family to his wife, Kelly Rizzo — especially when it came to supporting her through a difficult time.

Rizzo (44) shared a previously unheard story about how the stars of The Full house spinoff gathered around her late husband when she traveled to Los Angeles to see Saget on the first set she ever attended.

During her trip from Chicago to LA, the plane suffered a “serious malfunction,” Rizzo said How rude, Tanneritos! podcast co-hosts Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber.

“They were going around saying things like, ‘Here’s how to get into your brace positions.’ It was very, very scary,” she said.

She continued, “And I remember being on the phone with Bob and my family. And I was like, ‘This is really bad. We have to make an emergency landing and I’m terrified.’ And so I correspond non-stop with him and my family, and it was bordering on this being my type of goodbye. You know, ‘I’ll get back to you in case something happens.'”

The Eat Travel Rock the blogger said she remembers Saget telling some of his friends on the set what was happening during rehearsals and asking for help from Dave Coulier, who is also a pilot.

“He was saying, like, ‘Dave wants to know, is this happening?’ ‘Dave wants to know, do you hear these sounds,’ so I’m also in that weird state, like, ‘I could die in a plane crash,’ but at the same time, I’m communicating with all the Full house gathered around a table while they’re in the middle of filming a Thanksgiving scene,” she said of the strange situation.

Saget’s colleagues really called on every source of support they could find, Rizzo continued. “And Bob, I remember Bob being like, ‘Candace [Cameron Bure] pray for you, and this person is saying this, and this person is saying,’ and I was like, ‘How’s it going, how’s my life going,’ because we’d only been dating for a few months at the time and I was like, ‘What’s going on? ‘”

Luckily, Rizzo’s plane landed safely — but Saget was so “freaked out” that Sweetin, 41, also remembers that day vividly.

She explained how the actor brushed aside this stress to get through the day, calling it “that thing you have to do when you’re shooting and you’re like, ‘Hey, my life, my real life, is here’ on fire and falling apart,” we’ve all been through, ‘but I’ve got to put it in a little ovenproof dish right now and go do my job.'”
