Roberta Lee Streeter was born on July 27, 1942, to Ruby Lee (née Shipman) and Robert Harrison Streeter. Her mother moved to California shortly after Gentry was born and her parents divorced. The responsibility of raising children falls on grandparents. My grandparents’ place did not have electricity and water.
Her grandmother got her piano by selling her neighbor’s dairy cow. When Gentry was seven years old, she created her first work. My Dog Sergeant is a Good Dog is the title of the song.
