Bobby Berk admits ‘there was a situation’ with Tan France that ‘pissed him off’ but ‘We’ll be fine’

He admitted that being solo is less stressful for him.

“It’s funny, I was walking the carpet at the Emmys and, on the one hand, I was missing my colleagues because it was prime time,” he says. “But on the other hand, I thought, it’s actually – because I’m always the one who brings everyone together. I’m always a brawler. I’m always the one who says, ‘Okay, okay, let’s move on.’ It was kind of nice to take care of myself.”

Berk announced his exit from the popular reboot, which premiered in 2018, with a heartfelt message to the show’s fan community on Instagram.

“The love I have received from you over the past 6 years has been absolutely surreal,” he wrote. “You pitched in and were devoted fans and together we were able to share the healing powers of design. I learned all about kindness, love and acceptance from you and it changed my life for the better. The way you embraced me and accepted me for who I am is something I will truly carry with me for the rest of my life.”

Although he made light of the “situation”, he said the two had moved past the problem.

“Tan and I had a moment. A situation happened, between Tan and me, and it has nothing to do with the show. It was something personal that was brewing – and nothing romantic, just to be clear.”

“Should I have stopped following Tan? No,” Berk continued. “Maybe I should have just shut him up. But that day I was angry and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings – and siblings will always fight.”
