Shama started acting when he was 10 years old. In fourth grade, he participated in the rehearsal of his brother’s play on the Assam Drama Stage and was selected for a role in the Assam drama. He later discovered his passion for acting and joined a theater group in Delhi called Little Theater Group. He performed in many productions for theater companies and received many traveling scholarships to perform in various states of India.

During an exercise of the theater group, Shama Bodhisattva was selected for the role of Siddharth Chaudhary in the web series Paatal Lok (2020). He made his debut on the OTT platform with Paatal Lok.

Sharma made his debut in the Bollywood film Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 – Agni Pariksha. He plays the role of Basheshwar Thakur or Bacchu in the film. In 2024, he played the leading role in the Bollywood movie “All India Ranking”. He plays the role of Vivek, a 17-year-old IIT candidate.

The film was screened at many film festivals around the world, including the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Dharamshala International Film Festival, and Mumbai Film Festival, and the role of Bodhisattva was appreciated by many. In an interview, Bodhisattva revealed that since he had never been to Kota, in order to prepare for the role, he got help from relatives and friends who were studying in Kota. He said,

I didn’t have any direct friends who went to Kota to prepare for IIT entrance exams, so I talked to friends of friends. They told me about their experiences and shared photos. I watched a lot of old Hindi movies; Mr. Varun made me watch a lot of old Limca commercials. Then there are tons of movie recommendations, from The Breakfast Club to The 400 Blows. I have decided that Vivek’s favorite movie is Masoom. ”
