Guerdy Abraira Calls Shaved Head 'Empowering' After Breast Cancer Journey: 'I Feel Beautiful' (Exclusive)

Guerdy Abraira reports on her health after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023.

The Real Housewives of Miami star, 46, shared at the Bravo Fan Fest on Saturday, Nov. 23, that she’s “feeling good.”

“We’re making progress,” she tells PEOPLE. “It’s on from here baby, cancer free. I’m living my best life, one day at a time.”

“I learned that I should have been more selfish a long time ago,” she adds. “This is my ‘me’ era, Guerdy 2.0. All about me, and without apology.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE last month, Abraira said her gynecologist found a cancerous tumor in her left breast during a mammogram in March 2023. She was diagnosed with stage 1B estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer, meaning cancer cells use estrogen to grow.

Abraira said that after the hysterectomy, she feels like she’s “a different person, but it empowers me to sit in my truth. It makes me feel beautiful.”

Her support system continues to be her family, and she calls Russell an “angel.”

“I pinch myself every day because it’s still there, and our love just explores such new depths, you know, and it’s tested us as well,” she says. After six surgeries, she said they are “trying to work on the romance, give us our life back.”

RHOM Guerdy Abraira says more than 300 women have reached out since her breast cancer journey

While she has been in remission for the past 11 months, she previously told PEOPLE that she is still dealing with complications from surgery in June 2023. She developed capsular contracture in her left breast — which is when the scar tissue around the breast implant tightens and becomes hard — which led to the removal of the breast implant.

This prompted her to seek surgery to correct her breasts to match the size. Surgeons performed liposuction on the back of her waist and transplanted fat to her left breast. In addition to the surgeries, she said she also suffered from pain and tension in the ligaments of her left arm and shoulder.

Guerdy noted that she is focused on spending time with her family: “It’s all about quality, not quantity, and intimacy as a family,” she said.
