Police have launched a massive search for bride-to-be Victoria after her personal belongings were found near the River Derwent.
The last CCTV image showed the 34-year-old hidden under a camouflage baseball cap in a BP garage later that morning.
Officers today revealed that underwater search teams found the body at around 11.45am near where her belongings were found.
Official identification has not yet been carried out, but Victoria’s “distressed” family have been informed of the tragic development.
Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox said: “Victoria’s disappearance has understandably had a wider impact on the communities of Norton and Malton.
“Victoria’s family and those closest to her have understandably felt immense heartache since the day she was reported missing and have previously acknowledged how grateful they are to the local community for the huge level of support they have had as a family.
“While today’s outcome is not what anyone would have wished for, Victoria’s family have again asked me to express their gratitude to all those who supported North Yorkshire Police and other emergency services in our efforts to locate Victoria.
“They also asked me to ask for time and space for them as a family to come to terms with the information, the news that was delivered to them today.
“And our thoughts are very much with them at this time.”
The nurse, who is mother to a two-year-old daughter, is believed to have been seen walking towards the library in Commercial Street, Malton.
She was then caught on camera at a petrol garage in Welham Road – about half a mile away – wearing jeans and a puffa jacket.
Mystery as cops search for missing mum Victoria Taylor find ‘things’ on riverbank as drones are launched in search
Victoria was seen on camera walking past Malton bus station and the children’s playground at 11.53am.
She was last seen at 12.30pm as she walked towards the playground before heading towards the waterside path.
The police previously confirmed that they were open, but there is no indication of third-party involvement.
They concentrated their search on the river after confirming “a number of personal items” belonging to Victoria were found near the water.
Head of local policing, Chief Superintendent Fiona Willey, said police had to accept the “significant possibility” the mother had entered the river.
Drones were used to search the area from above, while a specialized underwater unit was hired to assist in the hunt.
Officers also used sophisticated sonar technology to scan the riverbed as the search grew.
A Facebook group has also been set up to help find Victoria while locals are putting up missing posters all over the area.
Her fiance Matthew Williams updated his Facebook profile picture with a heartwarming black and white shot of the couple.
He later made a heart-wrenching plea, saying: “I hope he comes back for sure.”
The couple recently returned home after enjoying their first holiday together in Mallorca.
Matthew also cried as he told how he and the couple’s two-year-old daughter lived “in hope”.
He added: “I’m just devastated about this. I know Vikki wanted him to have the best opportunities in life – opportunities she never had.
– It breaks my heart.
While her sisters Emma and Heidi said: “Right now we feel sick, distraught and lost after Vixx’s disappearance, but we are trying to focus on the children in the family to maintain a sense of routine at this difficult time.
“We would like to thank all the emergency services and volunteers who have helped in the search for Vixx so far. The wider local community also gathered, to which we are eternally grateful for the support they provided to us, Vixx’s family.
“The police told us that the search will continue over the weekend, for which we are grateful.
“The water is challenging at the moment due to the recent weather so if people are looking for Vixx, don’t put yourself in danger.”
Victoria was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Adidas original puffa jacket with white stripes down the sleeves and a gray Jack Wills hooded jumper.
She shared a touching picture of her daughter on Facebook just days before she disappeared.
North Yorkshire Police previously said members of the public should expect an increased police presence in Malton.
