The 66-year-old is believed to have been dumped at an address in Hawke Road at around 5.05pm.
South Yorkshire Police believe she left the address on foot within five minutes and was later seen on CCTV at 5.57pm that same evening walking along Cantley Lane at the end near the A638.
She walked in the direction of Rose Hill Cemetery.
Christine is believed to have met her sister earlier that day for coffee and lunch.
In a new post on social media this afternoon, police said: “Officers searching for missing 66-year-old woman Christina, who was last seen on Monday 12 August, have today (Tuesday 27 August) found a body.
“Although formal identification has yet to be carried out, officers believe it is Christine.
“Her family has been informed and at the moment they continue to have the support of the police.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the public who have been incredibly supportive in sharing our appeals about Christina’s disappearance and for passing on information which has helped our investigation.
“We would also like to thank the partners, including Lowland Rescue, who assisted in the search.
“Our thoughts are with Christine’s loved ones at this difficult time.”
South Yorkshire Police Detective Constable Eleanor Welsh previously said: “Christine has a husband, Glen, a daughter called Lisa, and siblings Gary, Gillian, Paul and Sandra – all of whom have been left heartbroken by Christine’s disappearance.”
