Police officers have repeatedly appealed to the public to search for Leah, but now they have pulled the woman’s body out of the bushes.

They have not yet confirmed the identity, but Leah’s family has been notified.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “The body was found during a search for a missing woman from Folkestone.

“The discovery was made in the undergrowth at The Warren in Folkestone on the afternoon of Friday 17th May 2024.

“Although official identification has not yet been completed, the family of a 24-year-old woman who was reported missing from the city has been notified.”

Creepy CCTV revealed some of Leah’s last known steps near Warren, a coastal strip east of Folkestone.

She was seen wearing an Adidas backpack, a dark green Parka coat, patterned leggings, white and black Converse, with her hair in a bun.

Officers said Leah, who is about 5ft4in tall with shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes, was last seen at around 7pm in Warren, at the bottom of the main concrete walkway that leads to the Martello Tower to the beach.

In a fierce appeal for information on Tuesday, her family said “people don’t just disappear”.

They added: “Our youngest Leah went missing nine days ago on Sunday 5th May and has not been found.

“The fact that Leah didn’t come home without informing her family or any of her friends is completely unnatural.

“A fan and frequent walker of The Warren since childhood, Leah is familiar with the routes and surrounding areas.”

Full statement from Lea’s family

This statement was made by Leah’s family before the search for her found her body:

‘Our youngest Leah went missing nine days ago on Sunday 5th May and has not been found.

‘For Leah not to have returned home without informing her family or any of her friends is completely unnatural.

“Since her disappearance, we have continued to work together with the police, but we have had no significant news.

‘The last Lean signing was around 7pm at The Warren =- at the bottom of the main concrete path leading up to the Martello tower to the beach.

A fan and frequent walker of The Warren since childhood, Leah is familiar with the routes and surrounding areas.

‘The final pictures show Leah walking from Tontine Street to The Warren via Sunny Sands and Wear Bay Road, while listening to music on her JBL headphones (3.30pm-4.30pm).

‘Leah is wearing a dark green Parka coat, patterned leggings, black and white Converse trainers, a black Adidas backpack – her hair in a bun.

Did you see Leah on Sunday 5th May? Did you talk to Leah or notice her in Warren after 4:30pm?

‘Extensive sea and land searches turned up no trace of Leah.

‘No further information, sightings, CCTV or personal items have been found since the busy Bank Holiday Sunday – heavily populated with campers, large groups, fishermen and dog walkers – when she went missing.

‘People don’t disappear just like that. Please come forward and contact the police if you have any information. No piece of information is too insignificant. Please refrain from speculation and rumours, as this will only hinder the search.

‘We thank everyone for their support and help over the past nine days, especially Lea’s friends and the local community who dedicated time, effort and resources to find her.

‘In the face of our suffering, we pledge as a family to carry on until Leah is found.

‘We thank everyone on Leah’s behalf.’
