Bournemouth stabbing: Boy, 17, arrested for ‘murder’ after woman, 34, is knifed to death on beach

A 17-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death on Bournemouth beach.

Police have launched a search after two women were stabbed on Durley Chine Beach just before midnight yesterday.

A 34-year-old woman from Poole died at the scene and a 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital with very serious injuries.

The beach has been cordoned off and the families of both women have been notified.

A 17-year-old from Lancashire has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Dorset Police said.

The police asked any witnesses or anyone who knows about the stabbing to come forward “urgently”.

Chief Constable Gavin House said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who very tragically lost her life.

“Police officers are searching the area and a full and detailed investigation is underway.

“I would ask anyone who saw what happened or has any information to contact us immediately.”

Local MP Sir Conor Burns said: “Another tragic, brutal event at a local level.

“One will want to convince the public that one of the reasons these events are still so newsworthy is that they are still so relatively rare.

“We want to hear quickly from the police what they find and hope this is an isolated, random act of violence, as it often is.”

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council tweeted: “Due to an ongoing police investigation, a police cordon remains in place between Bournemouth Oceanarium and the west side of Alum Chine.

“The beach, promenade, beach huts, Durley Chine car park, all businesses and access points within the cordon are currently closed.”
