FIVE people were injured in today’s suspected mass knife attack near the college.

A fight involving two groups of around 20 people is said to have broken out on Meyrick Road, outside the Roundhouse Hotel, near Bournemouth and Poole College, in Bournemouth.

A fleet of police cars and ambulances descended on the city center at 2:45 p.m. They were joined by three air ambulances.

The witness described how he saw three people being carried away by paramedics.

Although Dorset Police confirmed four people were injured in the incident, EMS said five were taken to hospital.

It is not known how serious the injuries are, but one injured person was transported to Southampton Hospital, which is the main trauma center.

A suspect was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.

Two roads have been cordoned off in the Lansdowne area of ​​Bournemouth city centre.

Police forensics officers could be seen searching bushes and bins for possible weapons.

A woman who witnessed part of the incident said: “All of a sudden I saw this massive fight.

“There were 10 on each side and they were fighting. I think there were two groups of students.

“I saw one of them lift up another boy’s shirt to check if he was injured.”

A parent, who was outside the college to pick up his son, said: “It was like a free brawl on the road. I have never seen such scenes.”

Another bystander said: “I came here because my granddaughter works at the college and I wanted to check if she was okay.

“I heard that three people were taken away on stretchers and that there were stab wounds. It happened in front of the college.”

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “Dorset Police received a report at 2.46pm of a disturbance on Meyrick Road in Bournemouth.

“Police officers went to the scene and are conducting an investigation.

“Four people were allegedly injured, we currently have no additional information about their condition.

“One person has been detained in connection with the incident, and police are continuing to investigate the area.”

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 2.54pm to an incident in Meyrick Road, Bournemouth.

“We sent five dual-crew ambulances, three air ambulances and two operational officers.

“We took four patients by land ambulance to Poole Hospital and one patient by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”

A spokeswoman for Bournemouth and Poole College said: “We understand that an incident took place outside the Bournemouth campus of Bournemouth and Poole College this afternoon.

“The police are currently on the ground, and our team helps them as needed.

“As the incident is a police matter, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
