Boy George has a fan in Bryan Cranston — and he recently serenaded him up close.
The pop star, who rose to fame in the 80s with the band Culture Club, sang his huge global hit “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” according to Breaking Bad star while working tables at a concert.
George (62) performed at a corporate gig, and among the guests were film director Ron Howard and Tesla boss Elon Musk. “I thought, ‘These people won’t come to me. I’ll have to get off the stage and into the audience,’ George recalled.
Sharing memories as she publishes her new memoir karma, George must be pinching himself that the surreal moment with Cranston, 67, even happened. “This is crazy, isn’t it?” he told PEOPLE with a laugh a few months ago.
“It wasn’t long before I was face to face with Bryan Cranston. I thought, ‘This is kind of cool.’

It could have been embarrassing. But George tells PEOPLE, “It’s so legendary looking. It’s obviously a weird thing to sing to someone’s face—especially if you think you know them. He was very sweet; he made me feel very comfortable.”
Reputation preceded both of them. “Obviously I was watching Breaking Bad, and I was like ‘Oh my God, I know this guy is so weird.’ But I also know that he is a person. It was just a funny moment.”
