Bradley Cooper took notes watching Vince Vaughn steal scenes in their 2005 comedy. Uninvited guests at weddings.
During a SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations panel this week, Cooper, 49, was asked to recall a moment on set when another actor’s artistry changed his own process. According to DiversityCooper cited Vaughn, 53, from his time in the making Uninvited guests at weddings.
“Up until that point, I was always just trying to do it right in front of the camera, be present and do it right. I’m watching Vince Vaughn destroy a scene, just destroy it, and then he wants another take,” Cooper recalled.
“It was the scene where the grandma shoots him, pulls out the gun and he runs out. He’s just like, ‘I want to do another one,’ in front of everybody … this huge crew and the lights and it’s so nerve-wracking. … And that was his willingness to fail.”

Cooper, who would later go on to popular Hangover films before transitioning to actor-director sa A star is born and Maestrohe added that he was “just in awe of this man, this man who just can’t make it, is just willing to try anything.”
“At some point he was just thinking and latching onto this thing and he was doing this song. I loved seeing it, but obviously it didn’t work. But it didn’t even matter,” he said, per Diversity. “We all watched this artist just explore with complete abandon. It was like a diamond through the middle of my head that said, ‘This is it! That freedom to just be absolutely ready to fail.’ ”
Added Cooper, “It changed me forever. That was the moment.”

Uninvited guests at weddingsdirected by David Dobkin, starred Vaughn and Owen Wilson with a cast that also included Rachel McAdams, Isla Fisher, Christopher Walken and Jane Seymour.
Fisher recently told E! News that she and her co-stars are “still interested” in filming a sequel, nearly 20 years later.
“We’re crossing our fingers that we do another one. It would be such a fun way for us all to get back together,” she said, adding: “There were conversations where we were pretty close. Vince and Owen have such amazing chemistry and you just feel it on screen. It’s palpable and it’s its own hilarious beast, so I want to see them back on camera doing what they do best.”
