Brennan Carroll began working as a graduate assistant for the USC Trojans football team in 2002 under the direction of his father, Pete Carroll. His father was the head coach at the time. Brennan also worked on offense and special teams during his freshman season. Similarly, he worked with the tight ends during his second season on the staff. Carroll was hired as a full-time assistant tight ends coach in 2004. Then in 2007, he became the team’s recruiting coordinator in addition to serving as an assistant coach.
Additionally, Brennan coached Trojans tight end Fred Davis, who won the John Mackey Award, given to the nation’s top tight end. In addition, it was announced that newly hired head coach Lane Kiffin would not retain Brennan Carroll in February 2010.
Carroll will also join Al Golden’s staff at the University of Miami on December 22, 2010, where he will coach the tight ends and serve as the recruiting coordinator. Brennan was promoted to WR coach on January 10, 2013, after the Hurricanes hired Mario Cristobal as their assistant HC and TE coach.
