“I got to introduce the Red Hot Chili Peppers to my son, and he introduces me to some other artists,” the actress told PEOPLE at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival.
Bridget Moynahan and her son are changing the music!
The Blue blood star, 52, spoke to PEOPLE at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival on Saturday and shared that she and John “Jack” Edward Thomas Moynahan, 16, enjoy each other’s taste in music.
At the event in New York — headlined by BTS, Lauryn Hill, Anitta and the Red Hot Chili Peppers — Moynahan said she’s a big fan of both Hill and the “Californication” rocker.

“I got to introduce the Red Hot Chili Peppers to my son, and he introduces me to some other artists and D-Nice and everybody else,” she told PEOPLE.
According to the actress, Jack also shares some of his favorite musicians with his mom.

When asked who Jack introduced her to, she said, “Well, all of his friends are kind of aligned with pretty much everyone who’s on the bill tonight or who’s performed before.”
“It’s nice that we all come together at different ages and can enjoy this evening and all the different musical artists,” she added.
In addition to its headliners, the free festival — hosted by international advocacy organization Global Citizen — also boasted an array of genre-bending artists including Conan Gray, 3RACHA and Sofia Carson.

The festival aims to invite world leaders to address issues such as poverty, equality for women and girls and the climate crisis.
Moynahan expressed enthusiasm about the event’s mission, telling PEOPLE, “I was really excited to see how many people were out in the rain, enjoying themselves, because nothing is going to stop this generation.”
“It’s just amazing, the passion this young generation has for social change, whether it’s vaccination or climate change or whatever their interest is,” she continued. “They are out there making a difference and they showed up tonight. So it’s great.”

The actress shares Jack with ex Tom Brady. The couple welcomed the now-teenager after they split in 2006. While Jack spent more time with his mother while she was growing up, it was still important to both of his parents that he share a close relationship with Brady and his then-wife Gisele Bündchen.
“My son has two loving parents and an extended family, whether it’s cousins, step-moms or boyfriends,” Moynahan said. More 2011, adding that Jack is “surrounded by love.”
Years later, in 2019, the actress told PEOPLE that she was grateful to Brady’s ex-spouse for his support in raising Jack.
“Tom and I decided to raise a child together and we both found partners who not only supported us in raising that child, but also loved our child as if it were their own,” said the actress who married Andrew Frankel in 2015.
“I don’t think you can ask for more than that,” she added.

More recently, Moynahan said that as Jack approaches adulthood, she doesn’t want her acting career or Brady’s pro football fame to influence what he chooses to do professionally.
“I really think he’s like that normal kid who doesn’t really know what he wants to do yet and I think that’s fine,” Moynahan said on Living with Kelly and Mark in July. “I certainly don’t want to put pressure on him to do what I do or what his father does.”
