Britney Spears’ Memoir The Woman in Me Surpasses over 2 Million Copies Sold (Exclusive)

Britney Spears is celebrating another milestone in her publishing journey and she is very excited. According to a press release from Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, Spears’ bombshell memoir, The woman in me, has sold more than two million copies in the United States. Combined sales figures include hardcover, audiobook and e-book formats. “My book has officially sold over 2 million copies in the US!!! Thanks to all the fans who supported me and my story. I love you all!!!” Spears says in a statement.

The pop superstar’s long-awaited memoir, which was released in the US on October 24, 2023, broke sales records in its first week, selling more than a million copies. In the bombshell book, the “Toxic” singer talks candidly about her life as a groundbreaking performer, from her days as Mouseketeer on The Mickey Mouse Club her success as a teenage pop sensation and its impact on her life. Spears also talks about some of the struggles she’s faced, including a 13-year conservatorship awarded to her in 2008 that ended in November 2021. Spears’ father Jamie, along with an attorney, controlled Spears’ finances and personal assets through the conservatorship.

Spears also describes her reaction to the viral #FreeBritney movement, her mental health challenges and her relationship with Justin Timberlake, in which she revealed she had a miscarriage at the time. “It’s finally time for me to raise my voice and speak, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me,” Spears told PEOPLE about the memoir via email for our cover story. “No more conspiracies, no more lies – only I own my past, present and future.”

After publication, The woman in me was currently number 1 The New York Times bestseller, as well as a #1 bestseller in the UK, Canada and Australia. The book, as stated in the press release, is currently in its fifth edition, with 1.65 million copies. It is estimated that around 3 million copies of the book have been printed in the world.
