Britney Spears was still recovering from her breakup with Justin Timberlake when she had a whirlwind romance with Colin Farrell.
In her new memoir, Spears (41) talks about her famous relationship with the Irish actor (47) in 2003. The woman in merevealing they had gotten together after she and Timberlake divorced in March 2002.

Spears and Farrell had a “two-week feud,” she writes in the book. “Quarrel is the only word for it — we were all over each other, fighting so passionately that it was like we were in a street fight.”

Farrell, then 26, and Spears went public with their romance shortly after, and the actor took the pop star along to the premiere of his film in January 2003. Novice.
In Spears’ book, she says she tried to avoid getting “too attached” to Farrell while she was still attached to Timberlake.
“Just like before when I felt too attached to a man, I tried to convince myself in every way that it was nothing terrible, that we were just having fun, that in this case I was vulnerable because I hadn’t gotten over Justin yet,” she writes.
At the premiere, Farrell told reporters about their relationship.
“We’re not dating,” he said at the premiere, according to Entertainment Weekly. “She’s a sweet, sweet girl. Nothing going on – just friends.”
Spears eventually married second husband Kevin Federline in 2004, and the two had sons Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, before splitting in 2007. Farrell, meanwhile, has a son, James, 20, with model Kim Bordenave. and son Henry, 14, with actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś.

Spears is now getting her voice back after her 13-year conservatorship ends in 2021.
“For the past 15 years or even the beginning of my career, I sat while people talked about me and told my story for me,” she told PEOPLE via email in an interview for this week’s cover story. “After I got out of conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without repercussions from the people who were in charge of my life.”
