Brooke Shields’ matching tattoo of her daughter Grier has an adorable backstory.
While appearing on Stupid things to love podcast with celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell, the actress, 58, shared the inspiration behind the artistic match she has with her 18-year-old self. Talking about the photos that Shields and her daughter sent in as inspiration, Campbell wants to hear how they decided on this particular design.
“When she was little, she would always just wear my shoes,” Shields shares with Grier. “And the whole foot would fit in the toe area of my shoes. Yes, and [she’d] go into my closet and come out and eat breakfast in her diaper and high heels.”
“And it was just the sweetest thing to see this baby in diapers or naked signing a song,” the proud mom remembers. “And so, when we were looking, she found this picture of a woman’s high heel, where you can recognize her mother’s [foot] filled the whole shoe. And then heel to toe, the kid is in the shoe. But the foot only goes forward, and there is a big gap at the back.”

Brooke Shields shares the sweet story behind the meaningful tattoo. Her daughter Grier, 18, ‘asked me to get it’
Later in the podcast, Campbell asks Shields if she was nervous about her daughter Grier following in her footsteps in the modeling industry.
“For me, the fear of her being a model was so strong that I fought it and fought it,” says Shields. “And then I got to this place where I thought… it’s kind of undeniable, right? Then I thought, ‘Okay, how can I serve her without repeating any of the dangers I experienced or creating any which of the dangers?'”

“And so we talked about it, we continue to talk about it. And I said, first of all, you’re going to have an agent,” says the mom of two, noting that she didn’t have an agent until she entered her 30s.
“So I knew from day one that I was going to have to put what was available in her hands. But the best I knew. She had to be in a position to be with people who knew better,” Shields says.

Speaking to PEOPLE earlier this month, the actress revealed she’s becoming an empty nester for the first time.
“I’m not ready,” Shields said when asked how she felt about her daughters leaving the nest. – I thought I would be relieved, but I don’t know.
“I’ll see when I get there, but I think I’ll be fine… the thought of not living 24 hours a day in a house with these people I raised, it’s just foreign to me. It’s like going to a completely foreign area.”
The proud mom added that she told her younger daughter to give her a “grace period” while she adjusts to her new self outside the nest.
“Because I told my daughter, I have to introduce myself to you. Because all I know is that you’re doing what I say you’re supposed to do. And you’re not a baby anymore. And I need some time to get used to you as a young woman again,” she said. is Shields.
