Bryce Dallas Howard Is Putting Debate About Her Figure to Rest: ‘I’ve Retired Talking About My Body’ (Exclusive)

Bryce Dallas Howard has long championed body positivity, especially in Hollywood.

And honestly, she feels done with the subject.

“I retired talking about my body,” the Argyll star tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “My focus is on what my body is doing, what my body is capable of.”

A reflective star, who broke out 20 years ago with M. Night Shyamalan Village and in 2022 the decade ended Jurassic World movies with Chris Pratt, recalls the years he spent gently pushing back when he was asked to lose weight for roles. She has now started inviting direct interviews before applying.

“What I found best was to communicate with people early in the hiring process,” she says. “What I would say is, ‘If you want to put me in, great. But if you think you want to hire me, but 20 pounds less than me or 40 pounds less than me, that’s actually a different actor. That’s not me, and I’m not going to shame you for this at this point. We need to have a real conversation here because if you’re hiring me, you’re hiring me.'”
