Burhan Wani was born on September 19, 1994 in Dadasara, Tral, Jammu and Kashmir. He was 22 years old. His zodiac sign is Virgo. Burhan went to school in Tral area of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. He was an outstanding student and was among the top students throughout his school life. He loved playing cricket and played it very well. Many consider him to be a budding cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir.
Burhan was fascinated by the Indian Army. He loved the camouflage uniform of the Army and aspired to join the Indian Army one day. According to reports, one day in 2010, he was stopped by the police while traveling with his brother. They asked his brother to bring them cigarettes and when his brother returned, the police began beating them. Burhan managed to escape, but police beat Khalid until he could no longer stand. Upon seeing this, Burhan decided to take up arms against the Indian army and fight against this injustice.
According to sources, after the incident, Burhan began to notice that he was not the only one facing such problems. He interacted with many people and discovered that his friends and acquaintances were going through the same experiences as he and his brother. At the age of 15, he dropped out of school and left home to join the fighting. His mother said in an interview——
Burhan is a very stubborn boy who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants.”
Burhan joined the Kashmiri militant group Mujahideen. He trained with them and quickly became an important part of the team. Burhan, who is very tech-savvy, used social media platforms to inform employees of Johnson & Johnson about wrongdoings by the Indian Army.
Burhan is famous for Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter. His video went viral, and many young boys at Johnson & Johnson agreed with his statement. Burhan has never been shy about facing the camera. While other militants usually hide their faces from cameras, Burhan used to release his videos publicly. He wanted people to see what was happening to him. He wanted people to know he was one of their own and that they could trust him. He was soon appointed commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
On April 13, 2015, his brother Khalid went to meet Burhan with three of his friends. They met in the middle of the forest and were suddenly ambushed by the Indian army. Burhan escaped, but Khalid was killed in the attack. The Indian Army said Khalid was a militant sympathizer who took his friends with him to join Hizbul Islam. Later, J&K police arrested Khalid’s friend but did not confirm whether his friend had joined the militants.

Burhan posted many videos threatening the Indian Army. He said the men in uniform (Indian Army) were being unjust and the militants would take revenge for all their wrongdoings. When discussions came up about providing a separate colony for Kashmiri Pandits, Burhan objected. He said they could come back and live in their own land, but a separate colony was unacceptable; he did not want a situation like Israel’s in Kashmir. Militants have attacked Indian troops on several occasions, but none can be traced back to Burhan. Burhan reportedly often planned these attacks.
