Tyra Banks reflects on her epic return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
In a segment that will air on Wednesday, October 23, the 50-year-old supermodel appears on The Drew Barrymore Show to discuss the iconic moment.
“When I saw you, I was just like, I know you know how to do it,” host Drew Barrymore told Banks after seeing her on the runway during the show on Tuesday, Oct. 15. “But I felt, coming from you, like, this real joy, a real feeling, a real sense of goodness about myself, real living in the moment and real present. Is any of that appropriate or right?”
“Yeah, you’re hitting on every cylinder right now,” the model replied.
She continued, saying that in the past she “walked for herself.”

“But when I walked the Victoria’s Secret runway this time, I felt like everyone was inside me,” Banks explained. “The 50-year-olds, the insecure women — I just felt like there was more, and I’m watching the playback and I’m like, boom, boom, boom. I was stomping because I felt more like I was the vessel than it was all about me. It was different.”

“Also, what was different was that my boobs were 10 times bigger because I was about 40-50 pounds heavier on this runway than when I retired,” she says. “So I said, ‘Don’t fall out, don’t fall out.’ ”

Banks, who walked in nine shows during her tenure as a VS Angel before retiring from modeling in 2005, made her big catwalk comeback at the VS 2024 fashion show. She wore a silver cape with black lining, a crystal shell bust , sparkly leggings and heels.
Ahead of the New York event, Banks helped tease the show’s return alongside fellow VS model Gigi Hadid. In a video shared on Instagram in August, Hadid struts down the aisle before reaching a table where Banks hands her an invitation in a gold envelope.

Victoria’s Secret has announced the return of the show in May.
“We read the comments and heard you,” the brand shared via Instagram. “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is ✨ BACK ✨ and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more!”

“It feels crazy to be back on the Victoria’s Secret runway,” Banks said in a joint announcement with the brand in September. “I mean ‘cray cray,’ like ‘cray cray good.’ I never thought I’d be back on this runway, to be honest.”
