Charles Dierkop, an actor known for his roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Prick and Policewoman, died. He was 87 years old.
Dierkop died Sunday after a recent heart attack and pneumonia, his daughter Lynn said The Hollywood Reporter on Monday. The star died at Sherman Oaks Hospital in California, according to the publication.
Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1936, Dierkop also starred opposite Rod Steiger in 1964. Pawnshop and played a mobster in the 1967 gangster film Massacre on Valentine’s Day.

Tribute to celebrities who died in 2024
Recalling the landing of the “Flat Nose” section, Dierkop – which according to THR broke his nose a few times in fights as a kid — he told producer Rob Word in a 2018 interview, “My agent was on a plane reading the script, and he says, ‘Flat Nose Curry’ … I think I have someone in mind. So I got an interview with [director] George Roy Hill and he was cast, very simply.”
Dierkop’s work also extended to TV, and the actor appeared on Star Trek, The The Andy Griffith Show and Policewoman with Angie Dickinson. Dierkop played Detective Pete Royston in the series that ran from 1974 to 1978.
The star also appeared in REM’s 1992 music video “Man on the Moon,” in which Dierkop can be seen sitting at a bar.

Tribute to celebrities who died in 2023
In the 2017 interview Star TrekDierkop reflected on playing Argelian Morl in a 1967 episode titled “Wolf in the Fold” and shared how decades later people still approached him about the character.
Admitting he was “just trying to get a job” when he was cast, Dierkop called the fan response “amazing.”
“Like I said, in the beginning it was just another series for me, and another sci-fi type series at that. I’ve done others,” Dierkop said. “I was at the gathering on the plot. I don’t know which anniversary. Gene Roddenberry was there… There’s a big, long line of people outside, waiting for people from the show to come in, trying to get autographs. They were saying, ‘There’s Morla, Mr. Morla from Wolf in the Fold!’ I didn’t even remember the name of the episode I was doing. They remember me all these years later. That was the first time I really realized how big this was.”
According to THRDierkop was married to Joan Addis from 1958 until their divorce in 1974. The couple, who met at the American Foundation for the Dramatic Arts, had two children: a son, Charles Jr., who died in 1990 at the age of 29, and a daughter Lynn.
