Cross of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office reports that a motorcyclist was speeding east on the Staunton Turnpike. The driver veered left of the center and collided with a westbound Chevy Malibu. According to Lt. Cross, the rider of the motorcycle has died. There were no other reported injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing. The road was closed for about an hour and fifteen minutes due to the collision.
