Cameron Diaz Says We Need to ‘Normalize’ Married Couples Having Separate Bedrooms

On Tuesday, Molly Sims and her best friend Emese Gormley released their latest episode of their podcast Lipstick on the rim with the segment showing Charlie’s Angels alum, 51, and her Avaline wine business partner Katherine Power.

As the ladies chatted about living a health-conscious lifestyle, Diaz opened up about what she once considered the ideal living situation for her household.

After one of the women admitted that her husband snores, Bad teacher star — who married Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden in 2015 — had a confession of her own.

“We should normalize separate bedrooms,” Diaz interjected before explaining her reasoning.

“For me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours. We have a family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room. Go to sleep in your room. I’m fine.”

“We have a bedroom in the middle where we can gather for our relationships,” she continued.

When one of the hosts joked that the discovery might be controversial, the group joked that it was Shrek the alum should not have shared that.

“I’ve said it before,” Diaz enthused, before clarifying, “By the way, I don’t feel that way now because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married.”

Diaz and Madden (44) have a three-year-old daughter named Raddix, who they had in January 2020.

“Happy New Year from Maddens!” the couple wrote in their Instagram post at the time. “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She immediately captured our hearts and completed our family.”

Earlier this year, Benji and Diaz celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary.

“In love, inspired, happy and grateful,” the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” artist wrote in a sweet Instagram tribute to his wife and daughter. “Eight years of marriage, side by side, and now a little one for us to lead🐣let’s have another 80 and then forever ❤️❤️❤️ happy anniversary 1*5*✨@camerondiaz my ❤️❤️‍🔥🌹🌎.”

Although the couple is usually private when it comes to their baby girl, during their visit in October The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonDiaz shared a sweet suggestion for a way her husband and Raddix could collaborate creatively.

“When he’s at home, does he sing songs for your daughter or…?” Fallon asked.

“Yeah, he’s reconciled — he has, honestly, I’m like, ‘Why don’t we just… you’ve got to do a kids album,’ because he’s got the best songs,” says the star. “They play in my head all the time because he sings them to her and she knows the words. And it’s the sweetest thing ever. It’s real. It’s so… it kills me.”

“He’s got some punches,” Diaz joked. “I’m telling you.”
