Camila Cabello takes a short break from social media.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, November 14, Cabello shared a selfie on her Instagram Stories and announced that she was retiring from the internet for the time being.
“A writer must have stories […] live them right now,” the 27-year-old “Bam Bam” singer wrote. “Taking some sweet little internet breaks.”
The announcement comes a day after Cabello performed a medley of her songs “Never Be the Same,” “Shameless,” “Señorita,” “Havana” and “I Luv It” at the Elie Saab show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which also featured Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion.

The Fifth Harmony member talked about taking time for herself in the past. In August, she took to Instagram to let fans know she was “going through it lately.”
“I feel like sometimes there’s heartache everywhere I look, inside and around me,” Cabello wrote at the time. “And I do my best to show up for my friends and fans and people who show up for me, but it’s hard to pour from what feels like an empty cup.”

“If I’m part of your life and sometimes I disappear, that’s probably why,” she added. “well brb while I get bandages and warm honey and stitches for this head and heart.”
Cabello then wrote, “you know I’ll come back from my trips to hell even wittier and smarter,” before inserting a winking emoji and giving fans some “notes from the field.”
“27 is messy, gilded,” she concluded.

In June, Cabello released her latest album, C, XOXOwith the singles “I Luv It,” “He Knows” featuring Lil Nas X and “Hot Uptown” featuring Drake. In September, she released an expanded “Magic City Edition” of the album with four new songs, including the single “Godspeed”.
Since releasing this album, she’s returned to the stage with her first string of headline shows since 2019. “I haven’t toured since my first album. Although I feel like the stage is my second home, I’ve always felt more like a studio hermit and like had to be taken off the road to be me,” she wrote on Instagram in September around the release of her Apple Music Live special.
“When we made C, XOXO, I knew I had to tour this body. these songs, these lyrics, these drums, this ENERGY – was MADE to be experienced live,” Cabello continued. “it’s a world of barking, biting women, Miami Spring Breakers fantasy, BMX bikers, courage, friendship 💘, eternal summer in Miami, Dade County.”
