Camilla to jet off on holiday as she takes break after holding fort since King’s diagnosis – who’ll be left in charge?

QUEEN Camilla is going on holiday tomorrow – as other key royals are out of action.

Camilla, 76, is taking a break from official duties after holding down the fort since the King announced his cancer diagnosis last month.

Tomorrow she will take a private flight for a break in the sun abroad.

Camilla was the last key royal last week – as even Prince Andrew returned to the limelight at the Windsor gathering.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward said last night: “This will raise the question of who is in charge at such an important time with so many key royals out of action.”

It comes after a week of crisis for the royal family as they struggle to cope without the King, William and Kate – amid crazy conspiracy theories surrounding the latter.

Kate, 42, has not been seen in public since Christmas and is still recovering from abdominal surgery in January.

William, 41, had to pull out of a Windsor tribute to his godfather, the late King Constantine of Greece, on Tuesday due to a “personal matter”.

Camilla has done 13 official engagements since last month.

She continued to write her own diary and attended the events she was supposed to be with her husband.

Last week, she led the family at the funeral mass for King Constantine in the chapel of St. George.

Then she hosted a reception for hundreds of guests.

And on Wednesday, she was the oldest royal at a reception for a children’s creative writing competition at Buckingham Palace.

On Thursday, she met with the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelensky at Clarence House.

Sources say Camilla was delighted to get a break.

And royal writer Seward pointed out that Charles, 75, will “insist” that his wife has a break.

She also said the holiday was a “great sign” that the king was doing well since he began cancer treatment and said Camilla’s engagement was “going hard”.

She added: “He will see that she is exhausted after the last months.

“Camilla was extremely worried about her husband’s health.

“But she was also the one who had to join a busy schedule of royal engagements and wanted to be there for him and Kate while they both had their own health issues. She definitely deserves rest and relaxation.”

Camilla will resume royal duties on March 11 when she is due to stand in for the King for Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey.

While she is on holiday, William, the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have public engagements to attend.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
