Campbell Wilson began his career as a management trainee in 1996 with Singapore Airlines (SIA) in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2006, he was appointed Vice President of Air Canada. After two years in the role, he was promoted to general manager in Hong Kong. In 2010, he was appointed to lead Singapore Airlines operations in Japan. In 2011, he took over as CEO of Scoot, a low-cost airline part of the Singapore Airlines Group.

Campbell joined budget airline Scoot a few months later, leaving in June 2016. Thereafter, he served as SIA’s Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, responsible for pricing, distribution, merchandising, e-commerce, global sales and branding, as well as the marketing department for SIA’s overseas offices. In April 2020, he returned to China to serve as airline CEO. In May 2022, he resigned from Scoot again and was appointed by the board of directors as CEO of Air India. The Tata Sons board had appointed former Turkish Airlines chairman Ilker Ayci as Air India’s new CEO, but he turned down the offer a few weeks later, after which the opportunity passed to Campbell Campbell Wilson.
