Candace Parker Feels 'Cool as a Mom' When Daughter Steals Her Clothes: 'Want Her to Be Like Me' (Exclusive)

Candace Parker isn’t just a mom—she’s a cool mom.

The basketball star, 38, tells PEOPLE how SKIMS became the official underwear sponsor of the WNBA and reveals how her 14-year-old daughter Lailaa, who she shares with ex Shelden Williams, started raiding her closet.

“She’s always in my closet. She comes out with my stuff and then I find it in her laundry room,” jokes Parker. “She hangs it up like it’s hers. And I say, ‘That’s not your stuff. Why is it in your closet?’ And she says, ‘Well, I wore it.’ ”

“So there’s so many jeans that I had that she has in her closet now, but it’s really cool because I want her to want to be like me, and in a sense, if she wants to wear my clothes, that’s cool as a mom, so I don’t mind as long as she returns it,” she says.

In addition to his daughter, Parker shares son Airr Larry, 2, with wife Anna Petrakova, who is currently expecting the couple’s second child together.

In October, Parker opened up about her daughter Lailae’s unconventional childhood in a clip from an ESPN documentary Candace Parker: I’m not apologizing. The Las Vegas Aces basketball player discussed raising daughter Laila as she continued her basketball career around the world.

“Lailaa went everywhere with me and I don’t think my team, wherever I played, would want me without her. We always said we were a team, didn’t we?” Parker began.

The clip cuts to a video of the athlete and her daughter on the plane. “Where are we going?” Parker asked the younger Laila. “Tianjin,” Lailaa answered.

“What I remember, I just wanted to be with my parents and I wanted to be with my family and I wanted to have fun. And that’s what I tried to do for Laila,” Parker later said in the confessional.

“Her party happened to be at the airport in Istanbul, Turkey, or her crawling at a Euroleague away game,” she continued. “Or her trying potatoes for the first time in Spain. I think it was amazing because her playground was literally the world.”

In December, Parker revealed that baby No. 3 was on the way in a joint Instagram post with Petrakova on their fourth anniversary.

Petrakova and Parker stood on the basketball court holding their overalls together as they laughed, Petrakova’s baby bump on full display. Lailaa was laughing beside them with a basketball in her hands as the three of them watched little Airr run towards the camera.

“Parker starts 5 carries! Mom and Mom are going from man-2-man to zone defense this spring!” the caption read, playing basketball strategy.
