Cara Delevingne Defends Posing Topless to Show Off New Tattoo — and the Internet Has a Lot to Say

Cara Delevingne has new ink, but it’s not exactly a fan favorite.

The model and actress, 31, posed topless in a carousel of photos shared by tattoo artist Matteo Nangeroni to show off her latest ink – the definition of the Italian word “dormiveglia”.

Tattoo defines the word as a noun meaning “the place that stretches between sleeping and walking,” according to Nangeroni’s post.

Between Delevingne’s topless pose and what many people assume is a typo in the definition, the internet came close to losing its mind over the ink — to the point where she had to weigh in.

“Just to make it clear to everyone! I decided to take my bra off, the picture didn’t look good with my bra on,” Delevingne commented on the post, clarifying the pose. She did not respond to speculation about a spelling error in the tattoo, despite many commenting that the definition should read “waking” instead of “walking.”

The Just the murders in the building The actress’ comment continued: “I’m a perfectionist, especially when it comes to photography and I was trying to help make something beautiful. Please everyone calm down. Thank you x.”

In the comments on the tattoo artist’s post, several people questioned the model’s decision to pose shirtless.

“Why is he topless if he has a tattoo on his arm 🤦🏻‍♀️,” one user commented, while another wrote, “That’s a cool tattoo, but I don’t think he needs to be shirtless 😂.”

“You really should have put it here [sic] bare arm tattoo? That’s why most clients won’t go to a tattoo artist,” someone else commented.

As for the artist himself, he was thrilled to be working on a famous model. “It was an honor and a pleasure to meet you 🖤”, wrote Nangeroni in the title of the post.

He labeled the location of the photos as the White Whale Tattoo Society, which, according to his Instagram page, is located in Padua, Italy.

Celebrities with matching tattoos: See couples, stars and friends who got matching ink

Ink is nothing new for Delevingne, who has dozens of tattoos scattered all over her body. She’s even gotten somewhat into the habit of getting tattoos that match those of the important people in her life.

On her birthday in 2020, fellow model Kaia Gerber revealed on Instagram that she and Delevingne have the same foot tattoos that read “solemate.” Their coordinated ink runs along the arch of both models’ feet.

“Happy birthday to my wife,” Gerber, 22, wrote in a birthday post. She also called Delevingne “the only person wearing my face on a sweatshirt”, “the best protester” and, on top of the video of them dancing, called her “the coolest guys at the party”.

A year later, Delevingne did the same thing, but this time with a new partner. She and her longtime friend and ISOMITB Costar, Selena Gomez, got matching tattoos of a dripping rose below a series of Roman numerals.

They both got inked at the same tattoo shop, Bang Bang Tattoo in New York. The store released a photo of each of the stars and their respective watercolor tattoos, breaking the news.

The artist, Keith Scott “Bang Band” McCurdy, wrote in the caption that he’s “done a lot” of the tattoos, revealing, “I didn’t tell them until the end that these were my first watercolor tattoos ever.”

He added, “Thank you for always believing in me Cara🖤.” He also praised Gomez, 31, for “always being wonderful.”

That same year, Delevingne got another matching tattoo for a friend as she and Paris Jackson debuted identical red rose tattoos on Instagram after the Oscars.

A rose appeared to be on the model’s upper right arm, while Jackson’s left forearm was tattooed between a sunflower and a design honoring her late father, Michael Jackson.
