Cardi B Helps NYX Professional Makeup Ring in Its 25th Anniversary: 'Who Doesn't Love a Birthday?' (Exclusive)

Nobody rings in their birthday like Cardi B rings in her birthday.

Known for her memorable parties (to mark her 30th, the rapper threw a glitzy Burlesque-themed party), it was only fitting that NYX Professional Makeup invited the star — its new brand partner — to help celebrate 25 years in the cosmetics business in style. .

It’s the makeup brand’s first cosmetic partnership with a celebrity and Cardi B’s first with a makeup brand.

The star (31) tells PEOPLE exclusively that this is precisely why it “definitely holds a special place for me.”

“They’ve been serving makeup for 25 years and it’s great to share that milestone with the brand, and I’m also continuing to hit big, groundbreaking moments in my career.”

NYX Professional Makeup made such an impact on the “Up” rapper that she can still recall her earliest memories of seeing it on the shelves.

“I first learned about them when I was shopping at a makeup store in high school,” she says, adding, “I love that NYX Professional Makeup has always offered good quality products at budget-friendly prices.”

“I like to use rose water and moisturizers to keep my skin hydrated under makeup,” the rapper adds. When she does splurge on her skin, it’s in the form of “professional moisturizing facials whenever possible.”

She recalls: “My then-boyfriend Offset threw me a lavish surprise party for my 25th birthday and gave me an Audemars Piguet [watch]. The party was star-studded, with lots of dancing and a beautiful birthday cake. We celebrated the life and success of ‘Bodak Yellow’.”
