Carl Radke Is ‘Devastated’ About Lindsay Hubbard Split, Says Would-Be Wedding Guest Captain Lee Rosbach

Captain Lee Rosbach shares with us how Carl Radke is coping after his engagement to him Summer house costar Lindsay Hubbard finished.

In the latest episode of PodcastOne’s Salty with Captain Leethe Below deck the star (73) said that he connected with Radka (28) after the news of the couple’s breakup became public.

“Carl and I talked about this,” he said. “I’m not at liberty to discuss any of that conversation, but he’s as devastated as anyone I’ve ever seen. One thing that surprised me was the interest in this.”

“It will be a high-profile wedding and it should have been broadcast on Bravo,” he added. “Is there a graceful way out of something like that?”

Rosbach then addressed fan theories about the couple’s split – including speculation that Radke, 37, was cheating, which he immediately laughed off.

However, he noted that the theory that Radke’s mother could have played a role in the broken engagement could be true, adding: “I can see where that could happen. You know [mothers] are always on. You have to have boundaries.”

The reality star also shared her feelings for the former couple as they deal with their public breakup.

“The thing that bothers me about Carl and Lindsay is that they’re being watched so closely that they’re not allowed to work through their issues together one on one,” he explained. “I’m sure that bothers Carl.”

The couple’s friend Craig Conover — who appears on Summer house along with girlfriend Paige DeSorbo — also reacted to the news of the split, saying Sixth page, he was “very surprised” by the couple’s split.

“At least I thought they were going to get married and then what happened happened, but whenever everyone sees the season, it will make a lot more sense,” Southern charm star, 35, shared.

He added that he saw the former couple’s relationship first hand when he was in the Hamptons this summer. “We’ve all been dealing with this for two months. You know, it’s not like they had a great summer and all of a sudden this happens,” he said.

“I just think the bottom line without any context would be hard for people to think about,” he continued. “I think it will make more sense with more context, that’s all.”

In a letter to family and friends obtained by PEOPLE earlier this week, Radke announced the end of their engagement and the cancellation of the wedding. He apologized for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

“Words cannot describe how difficult the last two weeks have been for Lindsay and I,” he wrote. “We are incredibly sorry to all of our guests for the confusion and lack of communication. We are left trying to figure out exactly how this all happened before we could even have a chance to determine a way forward between us.”

“There were many false stories and misunderstandings that made this even more painful, but unfortunately at this moment we are not going ahead with the wedding,” continued Radke. “The fact of the matter is that Lindsay is devastated and I am devastated that this has all happened. I am kindly asking for some patience and grace as we heal and recover as we go through this extremely difficult time.”

He then acknowledged their guests for their “commitment of money and time” and discussed alternative travel options for those joining them for the wedding in Mexico.

The split comes after Radke proposed to Hubbard, 37, at Dune Beach in Southampton last summer after less than a year of dating while filming Summer house season 7
