The wife of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that she has spent the past three weeks “terribly, horribly ill” suffering from winter viruses.

She wrote on Instagram: “It just came out and I was struggling to breathe properly.
“The hospital confirmed that I have the flu and pneumonia.
“I was there for almost a week and I still haven’t recovered.
“It could be a few more weeks before I feel like myself again.”
The wife of former prime minister Boris Johnson said she spent the first few days of 2025 in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxfordshire after suffering a ‘nasty’ chest infection for almost 18 days.
She added: “I say this a lot, but they looked after me and my family when we needed it most and I will never be beyond grateful.
“They are absolutely the best of us.”
Carrie thanked the staff at John Radcliffe Hospital, where she was admitted.
“When I was particularly humiliated, a nurse even serenaded me by my bedside,” she said.
She shared a cute photo of some toys her young children, Wilfred and Romy, gave her to keep her company while she was in the hospital.
The dinosaur model is Wilfred’s favorite toy “Greenie” and the Princess key ring belongs to daughter Romy.
Carrie ended the sentimental post by writing, “Health and family are everything.”
This comes as England’s emergency services battle their “busiest winter ever”.
Hospital staff described the rise in patient numbers as similar to when Covid numbers were skyrocketing, with one saying it “seems like a pandemic.
In 2020, Boris Johnson himself contracted the virus and was placed in intensive care after his symptoms “worsened”.
The doctors revealed that the case was so serious that they were ready to pronounce him dead.
The Prime Minister explained that his fight with the coronavirus during the pandemic depended on “liters and liters of oxygen” to survive
This month, dozens of hospitals across the country and emergency services were forced to declare critical incidents in what has been dubbed a ‘quad-demic’.
In the week of January 5, there were an average of 5,408 flu patients admitted each day with 256 in intensive care with Covid, norovirus and RSV cough virus.
Experts are raising concerns about the extended cold spell, with the UK’s Health Safety Agency issuing an amber cold warning until January 12.
