Case Keenum was born on February 17, 1988 in Brownwood, Texas, United States of America. He spent his early years in Alpine, Texas, before moving to Abilene, Texas. Casey Austin Keenum is his first name or birth name.
The Case is the son of Steve Keenum, a former McMurry University offensive lineman who later served as head football coach and athletic director, and Susan Keenum. The elder Keenum also served as head coach at Sul Ross State, offensive coordinator at Tarleton State and offensive line coach at Hardin-Simmons.

Early days of his football career
He started his football career at Wylie High School. During his high school football career, he passed for 6,783 yards and 48 touchdowns and rushed for 41 and 2,000 yards for the Bulldogs. He began his college career in 2006 with the Houston Cougars. He redshirted his freshman season in 2006. Case Keenum made his college debut on September 1, 2007 against Oregon in the Cougars’ season opener. He completed 14 of 27 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown against the Ducks and added 47 rushing yards on nine carries.
Case has started seven of thirteen games this season at guard. He threw for 2,259 yards, 14 touchdowns and ten interceptions. In 2008, he became the second player in school history to pass for more than 5,000 yards in a single season. He finished the 2009 season with 48 total touchdowns and more than 5,800 yards of offense. Case Keenum was an undrafted rookie quarterback who signed with the Houston Texans. He was the third running back on the Texans’ 53-man roster in 2013, behind starter Matt Schaub and backup TJ Yates. On October 20, he threw his first NFL touchdown pass, a 29-yarder to DeAndre Hopkins, in his professional debut. Additionally, he completed 15 of 25 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown, good for the highest passing mark of the season by a Texas quarterback. On the other hand, Houston lost 17-16.
The Texans later waived him on August 31, 2014. The next day, St. Louis Rams claimed him off waivers on October 28, 2014. On October 30, he re-signed with the team’s practice squad. On December 15, 2014, he was waived off the Rams’ practice squad and assigned to the Houston Texans, filling a roster spot.
