Cate Blanchett Rocks Recycled Spoons (Again!) for Disclaimer Red Carpet at TIFF: 'See You Spoon'

Cate Blanchett leads a sustainable fashion life.

Fresh off her red carpet triumph at the 81st Venice Film Festival, the 55-year-old actress arrived at the Toronto International Film Festival for her new series Waiver.

At the screening on Monday, September 9, Blanchett wore a suit that had a very familiar detail. Her black Hodakov suit had a row of spoons on the edge of the jacket that were the same spoons originally used for the halters she wore on Borderlands shown in Los Angeles last month. The antique pieces were sourced locally in the Swedish countryside.

Blanchett’s stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, took to Instagram to share a video of the star getting ready and dancing in her sparkly outfit, captioning it: “Who’s hungry? The spoons are back and #CateBlanchett is causing trouble in a completely recycled @hoda_kova look for today’s screening # Disclaimer See you in Canada!”

Waiveralso starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Louis Partridge, is an adaptation of Renée Knight’s 2015 novel of the same name. In the seven-part psychological thriller directed by Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón, Blanchett plays a journalist who is in danger of having her biggest secret exposed.

“Celebrated journalist Catherine Ravenscroft — played by two-time Academy Award winner and TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award winner Cate Blanchett — has made a career out of exposing the wrongdoings of others,” TIFF’s website reads. “One day she receives a mysterious book in the mail. Reading it, she soon realizes that the protagonist of the novel is based on her younger self, and the plot reveals her deepest, darkest secret.”

At the Venice Film Festival, Blanchett wore a mix of glamorous dresses and menswear-inspired looks. For the premiere Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice On August 28, the star stunned in an Armani Privé champagne dress paired with an elegant beaded necklace slung around her shoulders.

For the series premiere on August 29, the actress looked stylish in a black and white pantsuit. The next day, she appeared in a black pinstripe suit with a belted blazer and pointed-toe pumps. On Aug. 31, she stopped by the Armani Beauty 2024 photoshoot dinner, where she wowed in a revealing beaded top and high-waisted black pants.
